Winning Essay

Sophie won first place in our annual holiday essay contest this year! She got to read it last night at the tree lighting ceremony we have here. People from all over the community gather at the local university to hear the choir sing Christmas carols, watch a small parade with Santa in the firetruck, hear the mayors from both Monmouth and Independence speak, hear the winning essay, and see the giant sequoia tree lit up for the season. After she read her essay, she was the one who got to light the tree. It was really cool! We're so proud of her!

I knew that regardless of their father's inability to write that your kids would be superstars when it came to creative essays. Pass on my congratulations to Sophie when you get a chance.
