"Tom Sawyer" School Play

Sophie had her school play this evening, and it was thoroughly enjoyable to watch. She played the part of Becky Thatcher in "Tom Sawyer", and did a fantastic job! She was pretty embarrassed by the "kissing" scene (which had about 6 inches of air between their faces), but they were both very professional about it, in spite of the merciless teasing from their peers :) There's one part when she is supposed to whisper "I love you" in his ear, but she wouldn't say that so she came up with alternartives to whisper at each practice and performance instead, since he was the only one who would hear. Things like: "Your fly's open" and "Pull my finger" Gee, what kind of a person would come up with things like that to say?!

Claire's First Autograph!

Claire sent away for her first autograph from the voice of her favorite princess, Sleeping Beauty aka Mary Costa, and just got a response this morning. She was very excited about it!

All About "Nubs"

I've debated about blogging on nubs, because it's borderline embarrassing, but I've decided I don't have enough decency to hold back. So what are nubs? It's Claire's word for boobs/chest area. Don't know why, but so it is. Besides making up her own words to things, she also likes to look for similarities. She gets really excited when she sees a match, and says, "They're the same!" So I was slightly offended, but mostly amused when she observed me getting dressed and declared, "Mommy's nubs, Claire's nubs - the same!!" I know I'm no size D, but c'mon! Even more hilarious was when she was watching Todd get dressed (she has an intense interest in the human body - we'll have to channel that one carefully). She looked at him and said, "Daddy has fuzzy nubs!!" And she really does say it with double-exclamation-point-worthy enthusiasm :)

Clueless

Todd's been up late the last few nights working on his thesis paper, and has been falling asleep on the couch for the couple hours of sleep he actually gets. So upon waking up, I was not alarmed when he was not in bed. As the next hour passed, I was busy waking up girls, making lunches, refereeing fights, wiping noses, repairing a skirt, getting Claire breakfast and sending three out of four out the door to school. When I finally had a moment of quiet (with the exception of Claire's incessant cry of "Mommy, I NEED you!!!" -meaning she wants me to hold her and look directly at her without distraction while she tells me something I already knew or something I didn't want to know.) I sat down to check my email when the phone rang. Answering it, I was surprised to hear Todd's voice on the other end! What!? I asked where he was and he told me he was at work already. I had to admit, I'd thought he was here somewhere the whole time. "When I noticed you weren't on the couch I figured you were in the bathroom." I wonder how long it would've taken me to figure out he wasn't in the bathroom.

Easter 2009

I was worried about the weather ruining any chance at Easter pictures and an Easter egg hunt outdoors, but we were fortunate enough to find a semi-clear time of the day to squeeze it all in.

Little Little Women

As part of Activity Days, we had the girls work on developing their talents in the area of acting. They had four practices to learn a mini version of the play "Little Women". They all did such a marvelous job! We were very proud :)


I posted the whole thing (about 16minutes) for those who wished they could've been there. The sound may need adjusting, as some of the girls were really softspoken.
