Meet the Bevans Family

June 3, 2007
I don't know why I didn't start this a long time ago, but better late than never, right?

Family update (for those of you who may have been out of touch with us for a while) - here is where we're at right now: We're living in Monmouth, Oregon, a small little town which we have fallen in love with. Our little house lacks only a white picket fence and a dog in the back yard. We've lived here for about 6 1/2 years now and are improving little by little as we go.
Todd is working up in Canby for now doing software engineering for Hawksoft, Inc. He is also attending Lewis and Clark law school at nights. He's out for the summer and two years into the four year program. It's proven to be a good fit for his mind and interests, so we're hopeful that the many hours and dollars we're sacrificing will be worthwhile in the end.
I'm busy with four little girls, a home to keep up with, an occasional substitute teaching job, church responsibilities, and friends that help keep joy in my life amidst the chaos.
Sophia is 8 years old and the absolute pride of my life. She is very bright and friendly with a cheerful disposition and a desire to serve and please others. She's almost done with 2nd grade (Wow! Wasn't I in 2nd grade just a few years ago?).
Brooke and Janelle - my twins...when they're not driving me crazy they're making me laugh hysterically. They are 5 1/2 years old and are finishing up their kindergarten year. They're both excellent readers and writers, and are completely ready for first grade (incidentally, I'm ready for them to be in first grade too - that kindergarten half-day schedule is a killer). Janelle has shown a propensity towards math and Brooke towards art, but they each enjoy both as well (I try to be careful not to categorize or label them too strictly, but I will break that self-imposed rule just a bit to describe their differences). Janelle is more likely to be outgoing and talkative. She likes to be silly and make other people laugh. She has a definite tender side to her and still needs lots of mommy/daddy TLC. Brooke is quieter in public. She tends to cling to me when she's in a new situation. She can be stubborn when she's going against my wishes, but that also makes her persistant and determined when it's for the right reasons. She's the family snuggle-bug; she's got cuddling down to an absolute art form.
Then there's Claire. She's 10 months old and in many ways it's been like having a prolonged episode of dejavu. She's so much like Sophia was in personality and mannerisms. And other than her tow head and blue eyes, she's the spitting image of all three of her sisters as babies. (We only have one model with a few variables, good thing it's a cute one). She's added a whole new dimension of joy to our family. Her smile-of-a-thousand-dimples is the cutest thing in the world, and when she laughs, it's like angels singing.
