Kristin's bridal shower took place on the day there was a massive storm that wiped the power out and shut down highways because of downed utility poles. So we switched the venue to my parents' house at the last minute, which still had power. Inspite of the weather related chaos, it was a good time. Meg prepared tons of great food (so you know I was happy) and Shanna did some fun games.
As her sister, I felt it was my duty to embarrass her (and apparently Pook and some of Kristin's friends felt the same way). Here is a picture of her right after she opened a book that I'm too embarrassed to even write the title of:
I love the look on her face when she got Pook's present. It was a gift basket complete with Saran wrap, whipped cream, and baby wipes, etc.:
My gift came in stages. Stage 1: "Make your own lingerie"
What can't you do with a pair of scissors and some cotton briefs?
Stage 2: "Crochet your own lingerie"
crochet hook and dental floss
Stage 3: "Eat your own lingerie"
a candy bra (thanks to my classy sister-in-law Kim, but I couldn't resist passing this one on...)
Stage 4: "Actual lingerie"
with a disclaimer inside which read something like: "Warning! Underwear may cause husbands brain to cease normal functioning. Babbling and drooling are normal. Do not allow husband to drive or operate heavy machinery while you are in these. A DUIU (driving under influence of underwear) can be dangerous and may result in a heavy fine..."
