I've made a personal challenge to myself to read the Old Testament beginning to end (and it's no small task, let me tell you!). Everyone knows the stories of the great heroes and prophets, but it's the little guys that have piqued my interest the most. I have a new favorite scripture story. It's about a soldier named Abimalech who puts his enemy under seige in a tower and plans to burn it down with everyone trapped inside. His plan is foiled, however, by a little old lady - my new scripture hero (okay, so it doesn't say she's old, but it makes for a better mental picture that way.)
(Judges Chap 9:52-54)
"And Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it, and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire. And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimalech’s head, and all to brake his skull. Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me,
that men say not of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died."

sweet story Alli...and with a wonderful animation to go with it as well...great!!!
LOL Alli, the mental picture I had in my mind when I was reading the scripture was already getting me laughing out loud, but the animated story you put afterwards was even better! By the way, I love the answers Brooke and Janelle answered to the proverbs- very clever:). Also, I have to say that I stored the "Tattle Jar" in my memory for future use...great idea!:)
I like the lady who was told not to look back at her village that was being burnt and pillaged, and she looked anyway...got turned into a big salt lick!
I think you are the funniest person ever! I think they should hire you to annimate the bible stories! You could do a picture book!!!! I love the little stories in the sciptures that we don't talk about all the time too. When I was finishing the BOM this last time I read the one about when the guy gets his head cut off but he still raises up on his hands trying to breath! YUCK! Maybe you sould animate that one!!!
I don't remember that story, but it is a good one! I think there are men who couldn't take being killed by a woman even today :)
Cute story...thanks for the laugh
That story totally cracks me up. It reminds me of the parable of the beam and the mote. You know, the one that Jesus tells that says don't pick a mote out of your brother's eye when you have a beam in your's. The reason it reminds me is because my new testament teacher said that it was arguably the funniest parable that Jesus ever taught, especially if you visualize the speck of dust in someone's eye and a log coming out of your face.
P.S. we started a blog
