Crack in our schools

What's the deal with girls showing their butt cracks all over the place!? Whoever came up with the super-low rise jeans, obviously didn't think the whole thing through. It's hardly attractive, traditionally associated more with plumbers than with any kind of sex appeal (that's the first time I've used that word in my blog - I apologize, I'll try to be careful with it, I promise). And it's not just teenagers either. From Elementary through Middle and High Schools, every time I substitute in a class I invariably get accosted with some girl's "valley of shadow and death". At least the boys have the good sense to wear a ridiculously oversized shirt if they're going to buckle their jeans below their cheeks. As a representative teacher, and polite person in general, I'm uncomfortable pointing it out to the offending crackster, but I don't want her to be subjected to her merciless peers either, especially in the case of the younger girls who simply don't have pants that fit well. And I have to wonder, "How can she not know!!!???" Or at the very least, "Why does her mother not say anything?"

What do you think? Will this horrible fashion faux pas phase out soon enough? Or do we need to take a stand and start sticking things down there (garbage, pencils, small animals, whatever) until they all get the hint?

Unfortunately, this fashion trend extends beyond the school into women who should know better. I think it looks disgusting (and they also feel very uncomfortable).

I agree way to many cracks are being shown. Can they feel the breeze on the bare skin.

I agree whole heartedly...was at MES earlier this week picking up a daycare child and saw a "Little" girl with way too much skin showing and it was all I could do not to roll down the window and comment on the "Hooker" attire.

I had a boy in my class say today, "Um... Mrs. Brosnan? Every time Rebecca bends over, I can see her b-u-t-t-". These guys are all 7 and they can all tell... it's bad!!!

Totally agree...as we would say in our family when we see any inappropiate bare skin showing...'that's nasty!'

I agree there should be a public notice or something. That way maybe they would catch the hint that it is DICUSTING. Or as we would say when I was in high school it is U-G-L-Y You ain't got no aliby your Ugly!
